Code Enforcement
Fines - Penalties - Liens

Facing fines, penalties, or liens related to Short-Term Rentals can be overwhelming, but remember:

You're Not Alone and You Can Contest Your Fines and Liens!

MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT SEIZE YOUR PROPERTY

OR TRANSFER YOUR FINES TO YOUR TAX BILL!

Take Proactive Steps to Defend Your Rights

  • RECORD: Utilize cellphones, security cameras, and Ring doorbells to document interactions with officers. Keep in mind, these officers may also be carrying a recording device on them.

  • REMAIN SILENT: Neither you nor your occupants are obligated to engage in conversations with these officers.  Politely decline to answer questions and tell them to come back with a warrant.

  • LOCK GATES: Officers cannot enter your property without a warrant.

  • CHALLENGE: Keep records and respond to all notifications from code enforcement.

NOTE: We are gathering cases involving abuse of authority by code enforcement officers.  This is why you must record all your interactions with these officers.  This could lead to a major civil rights lawsuit against these municipalities.  These officers and municipalities ARE NOT above the law!
