Preparing for Federal Court Ruling

Para Espanol haz click aqui. The GLVSTRA Association is announcing an important membership policy update and deadline for all short-term rental (STR) owners and operators.

For years, we have encouraged property owners to maintain active membership rather than waiting until a problem or legal issue arises. When unexpected challenges occur, reacting without proper guidance can be extremely costly—often far exceeding the cost of annual membership. Active GLVSTRA members receive 24-hour access to guidance from our leadership team and benefit from the Association’s extensive experience handling STR-related matters.

Effective March 2026 and once the federal court issues its final ruling, post-ruling guidance will be available only to those who have an active paid membership by February 28, 2026. Any STR owner or operator who is not a GLVSTRA member by that date and later seeks assistance in understanding how the federal ruling applies to their specific situation will be required to pay a special consultation fee, starting at $2,000.

This policy is based on fairness and long-term sustainability. Many members have consistently contributed dues over the years to fund and support the ongoing legal effort. It would be unfair to allow individuals who have not supported the Association to receive the same benefits at the last minute by simply paying a small membership fee. Our responsibility is to protect and prioritize those who have committed to sustaining the Association and its mission.

We strongly encourage all STR owners and operators to secure a GLVSTRA membership by February 28, 2026, and keep it active so they are fully supported during and after this critical phase.

Additionally, we are now hosting bi-weekly members-only meetings to share legal updates and answer questions. Our first meeting was held yesterday at 10:00 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., and may be attended online or by telephone.

In the coming days, we will email those who need to renew or update their membership. For those who have not yet joined, we urge you to become a member by February 28, 2026.
